The most profound quote
Dalai Lama’s quote on what surprised him most about humanity was one of the most profound I have ever read.
He cuts right through to the core of what most people’s unhappiness stem from. Our preoccupation with money and the sacrifices we make to obtain it. Money itself is not bad of course and in fact gives us the freedom that we all cherish and work towards. But what we do to obtain it and what we do with it after we obtain it is what separates the good with the bad.
His mention of our inability to savor our present because we are so worried about the future is also right on. He does not mention it but we also in many ways live in the past, not giving our present its due.
It is time for us to re-examine how we subconsciously live our lives and be mindful how why do certain things and course correct if necessary.
Let us focus on the present and learn from the past but not live in it. Be hopeful for the future but not be anxious by it.
